April

Spring Flowers

April’s here and at last it’s stopped raining…

The spring flowers are coming out all over the Quarr: primroses, celandines, dandelions, blackthorn, periwinkles, daffodils and more.

And it seems there’s plenty more to come!

Buds & Bugs

It’s getting warmer and the sun is shining and the Quarr is coming alive:

DIGG

With the spring now well-established the jurassic cliff-face has  become somewhat overgrown. Volunteer geologists
from DIGS (Dorset Important Geological Sites) arrived on 27 April to help clear the surface of unwanted vegetation:

Dandelions

The Quarr is awash with dandelions this year – all along the paths, in great swathes across the grass and all mixed in with the other species that are vying for space:

And, of course, the butterflies and bees love dandelions and can’t leave them alone!

Sherborne Outreach

Sherborne Outreach are regular helpers at the Quarr and this month they  got stuck in again:

Thanks folks!
